Picture Perfect & Timeless Textures Card: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello friends! Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! If you're a regular visitor to my blog, you know that I took a little hiatus from blogging over the Christmas break so I could spend some time with my family and friends, but the vacation is over and I'm back to work! The transition back into my office was easy as I have boxes and boxes of new goodies to play with from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue! Let me tell you now, save that Christmas money! You are going to want all of these amazing new stamps, papers, dies, and accessories! Are you ready for sneak peek of what's to come?

This card uses two new stamp sets that will be released on January 5th, Picture Perfect and Timeless Textures. The Picture Perfect set is a collection of 3-step stamping images that include this stunning rose, and also a starfish and humming bird. There's great sentiments in this set too! The Timeless Textures stamp set is fabulous bunch of textured stamps that you are going to LOVE. A coffee stain (woohoo), a grid, some dots, washi, splatter, and a few more. It's a must purchase. 

I used the Timeless Textures stamp set to create this pretty, weathered wood look on the background of my card by embossing the image in clear and then watercolouring over it with Smoky Slate Ink and my Aqua Painter. It's a great way to add some additional texture to your watercolour paper. 

I just love the soft, vintage look to this card. Here's a few tips to create your own vintage vibe pretties:

• Use soft colours with muted tones, like the Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, and Smoky Slate I've used here.
• Don't be afraid to mix white and vanilla. My card base is Very Vanilla, Watercolour Paper is white, designer paper is vanilla, and all my stamping is done on Whisper White. It's ok, just go with it. 
• Get yourself some stamps that have a vintage feel, like Picture Perfect (coming soon), Everything Eleanor, Choose Happiness, Watercolour Wings, Butterfly Basics, and Traveler.
• Watch your fonts. When you're adding a sentiment, don't use anything with an ultramodern font. Stick to the typewriter look or soft flowing cursive. 
• Don't forget the accessories! Here are a few of my vintage faves: Typeset Designer Series Paper, Linen Thread, Venetian Crochet Trim, Antique Brads, Very Vintage Buttons, and Vintage Faceted Buttons.
